About This Place

Canton Wonton House is a true gem nestled in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, offering an authentic Cantonese dining experience that transports you straight to the streets of Hong Kong. This cozy, family-run restaurant serves up a variety of Asian fusion and traditional Chinese dishes with a focus on hand-crafted wontons, rich noodle bowls, and hearty congee, all at approachable prices that make it a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.

The standout menu item here is undoubtedly the wonton & beef brisket noodle soup (09 雲吞牛腩麵). The broth is savory and deeply satisfying, enriched with the distinct aroma of shrimp eggs and perfectly balanced with tender, flavorful beef brisket and delicately wrapped wontons that are never oversized — just like the authentic taste cherished by those who grew up in Hong Kong. Fans also rave about the Beef Brisket Noodle With Vegetable (32) and the Squid Ball & Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, each dish delivering a comforting harmony of textures and flavors that feel like a warm embrace on a chilly Seattle day.

If you’re seeking something unique, try the Beef Honeycomb Noodle With Vegetable (32A) or enjoy a plate of oyster sauce noodles (41 蠔油撈麵)—simple yet robust dishes designed for those who crave genuine, hearty Cantonese cuisine. The menu is also punctuated by traditional side options such as Kidney, Liver & Stomach With Vegetable (69A) and the ever-popular Chinese donuts (64 油條), giving you the full spectrum of flavors that define authentic Cantonese dining.

The atmosphere at Canton Wonton House perfectly complements the food: it’s unpretentious and homey, where you might find the owners’ children playfully assisting behind the scenes, adding a familial warmth that makes every visit feel personal. Amidst the casual setting, the kitchen’s dedication to preserving classic recipes shines through. Customers often describe it as a “dive” in the best sense—no frills, no fuss, just incredibly satisfying food served with a genuine, welcoming spirit.

Longtime patrons like Savya Thay reminisce about coming here since college for the famous chicken congee, a dish whose quality has remarkably stood the test of time despite rising prices. Other reviewers praise the youthful, attentive servers and affordable prices that feel like a rare find in the city’s dining scene. For many, Canton Wonton House is the place to go for nostalgic comfort meals that evoke memories of home—whether that’s a hot bowl of suikau noodle soup or a steaming serving of fish congee on a rainy afternoon.

If you want to indulge in authentic Cantonese flavors and soak in a genuine community vibe, Canton Wonton House is a must-visit. From the fragrant broth to the tender noodles and perfectly seasoned wontons, every bite here is a celebration of tradition and heartfelt hospitality.

Alright, so this place is a bit of a dive. BUT, they do have the best chicken congee. I’ve been coming here since my college days in the early 2000’s and the food hasn’t change. The price has, but the food hasn’t. Still worth coming for chicken congee.

A family business with affordable prices. A young child brought the menu to my table. (A crib was in the back for the "waiter's" naps as needed.) I had the noodles and pork with soup on the side for $12 plus tax and tip.

I can’t believe a few people think this is not authentic. I grew up in Hong Kong and this is the taste I know. It’s spot on. The wontons are not oversized and have a singular shrimp taste like what you get nowadays. The brisket was great and with the hot oil, it’s so nostalgic for me. I love the shrimp eggs in the soup that comes with the dry noodles. It’s so classic. I can’t even find this taste easily in HK now. I wish I can get this where I live! I think I would travel here just to get this again.

This is my favorite place on a cold day or if I’m craving some hot soup. I like their sui-kau noodle soup and fish congee. The owners have two little helpers running around which was sweet. Wish more people knew about the food here!

My favorite wonton noodle soup! Savory broth with good amount of wontons. Regular size is best for most people. Been coming for years.

I came to this amazing gem a few weeks and I'm still thinking about it! The noodles were perfect in texture & taste, the broth was savory & delicious, the wontons were scrumptious & delectable, the vegetables with oyster sauce were the perfect side with the soup. I was in heaven eating this delicious food on that cold afternoon day. I will definitely take more trips to Seattle just to eat here again. They truly are one of the best restaurants I've ever had the privilege of eating in.

This place is great! Simple and easy, there’s a window you can see into the kitchen with big pots of broth on the burners. The wonton and & BBQ pork soup is delicious. The broth is light, a delicate flavor, and could cure just about any ailments. The BBQ pork gives it just a little sweetness, it’s soft but has a little bite to it. The wontons are delicious. The veg is nice and tender, full of delicious broth flavor. The beef tendon is also delicious. A great texture with a clean flavor. The chili oil is really good and goes well with the beef tendon soup. This place really reminds you that less is more. The perfect spot for a rainy day, a cold day, a cloudy day, a day you’re feeling sad; this soup will make you happy.
